New Lenses for Working in Increasingly Culturally Diverse Places

Workplace culture has its buzzwords. You cannot miss "diversity" and "inclusion" if you wanted to. Usually presented as positives that drive employees and companies to greater success, not every employer and employee feel that their diversity experience is positive. Manitoba is the meeting place of many talent-rich cultures and as these cultures, some new and some who have been here thousands of years, increasingly interact there will be growing pains and cultural misunderstandings to overcome. In this session you will hear and interact with concepts including:
About Martin Blumrich
Martin is the Cultural Communications Facilitator for soft skills courses with Settlement Online Pre-Arrival or SOPA. SOPA is an interagency partnership across Canada. SOPA offers settlement action planning during the online intake session, as well as several facilitated and independent study courses covering job search, career planning, soft skills development, and learning about the Canadian workplace culture. Martin’s career has spanned multiple disciplines in adult education, including being the Dean of Students and professor at a private college in his native Saskatchewan, and over ten years as a Career Development Professional. Equipped with an M.Div. and an M.A. in Counselling, Martin completed his Certificate of Adult and Continuing Education (CACE) to confirm what his clients already know: He is an entertaining and informative facilitator, in the classroom and online.
